Dr. Jeffrey B. Velotta

Dr. Jeffrey B. Velotta is a thoracic surgeon at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center, where he treats pleural mesothelioma and lung cancer patients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and the West Coast. He is board certified in both General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Velotta received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in 2005 and completed his general surgery residency at the UCLA Medical Center, during which he undertook a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He holds an appointment as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the UCSF School of Medicine and teaches at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. His clinical and research work focuses on minimally invasive lung and esophageal surgery, image-guided surgical techniques for small lung nodules, and multimodality treatment of mesothelioma, alongside studies of post-thoracic-surgery pain control and outcomes for never-smokers diagnosed with lung cancer.
